About The Artist
Alejandro Goya, a distinguished abstract artist and founder of Paia Contemporary Gallery, is a pivotal figure in Hawaii’s dynamic abstract art community. In May 2014, the gallery’s physical space in Paia Town transitioned to an online platform, where Goya continues to showcase his evocative abstract works alongside other talented artists. Since 1998, Goya’s abstract paintings have been featured in solo and group exhibitions across the United States.
Artist Statement
Working near the ocean, I draw from the interplay of human-made objects and the natural elements, such as rusted metal, peeling paint, and surfaces weathered by sun and salty breeze.
My art is guided by a passion for color interaction theories, blending structured and intuitive methods to create balanced compositions and color palettes that embrace spontaneity.
My minimalist works feature clean lines and smooth surfaces, while my bolder, more sculptural paintings incorporate textured, mixed-media elements. My creative process combines knowledge, experience, and ongoing experimentation, as I take risks to evolve my style and challenge conventions, striving for personal and distinctive outcomes.
